BIOGRAPHY

McCarthy is a graduate of Harvard College and a lifelong student of fine arts. She was a double honors major in European History and Romance Languages and a Division I volleyball player.

In painting, she derives significant influence from the baroque masters, principally Diego Velazquez, Rembrandt Van Rijn, and Francisco Goya. McCarthy studied art history under the tutelage of Eric Jan Sluijter, Raquel Vega Durán, and Francisco Ramallo.

In writing, her key influences are Zadie Smith, Hunter S. Thompson, John Steinbeck, Aldous Huxley, and other authors who have powerful narrative voices and subject matter that pushes readers out of their comfort zone. McCarthy studied literature under David Alworth, Duncan White, and Daniel Aguierre-Oteiza.

She currently resides in Los Angeles.
